Murchison House Station: A Dark Sky Guide

Four hours north of Perth, the sky opens up. Murchison House Station sits in one of the darkest patches of sky in Western Australia, and it’s accessible without a 4WD or a week of leave.

This is my practical guide to planning a dark sky expedition there — what to bring, what to skip, where to set up, and how to make the most of a two-night trip.

Spoiler: you don’t need expensive gear. A pair of 10x50 binoculars and a reclining camp chair will show you more than you expect.
